Palatīni, 1) seit Constantin dem Gr. Alle, die am kaiserlichen Hofe Ämter bekleideten u. den verschiedenen Comites untergeordnet waren, als Geheimschreiber etc.; 2) die Haustruppen, im Gegensatz von den Grenz- od. Feldtruppen; vgl. Paladin.
