Ascough (spr. Äskaff), Robert, geb. um 1600 in England, britischer Admiral, 1648 einer der ersten Flottenoffiziere, die sich dem Parlament unterwarfen, brachte die Scillyinseln u. 1651 Barbadoes u. Virginien zum Gehorsam, schlug 1652 die Holländer mehrmals; von dem eifersüchtigen Parlament abgesetzt, übernahm er 1664 unter Karl II. wieder ein Commando gegen die Holländer, ward aber in der viertägigen Seeschlacht Anfang Juni 1666 gefangen, kehrte bald nach England zurück, übernahm aber kein Commando wieder u. starb bald darauf.
