Bardānes, 1) Sohn von Artaban III. 41–45 n.Chr. König von Parthien, s.d. (Gesch.); 2) Philippicus, aus einem edlen armenischen Geschichte, Feldherr Justinians II., nach demselben 711–713 Kaiser des Byzantinischen Reichs (s.d.); er wurde von Rufus geblendet u. verbannt; 3) B. der Türke, Heerführer der Kaiserin Irene; wurde 803 von seinen Truppen genöthigt, sich gegen den zum Kaiser ausgerufenen Nikephoros zu erklären u. sich auf den Thron zu setzen, allein er legte lieber sein Commando nieder u. ging in ein Kloster (s. ebd.).
