Berly, Karl Peter, geb. 1781 zu Frankfurt a. M., war 1804 bis 1806 Vorsteher der neugegründeten Bank zu Koburg, kehrte 1811 nach Frankfurt zurück, ertheilte Anfangs Unterricht, wurde später Redacteur der Frankfurter Oberpostamtszeitung u. der Zeitung der freien Stadt Frankfurt (1821–29), u. st. 1847. Er übersetzte Villemain's Leben Cromwells, Lpz. 1830, u. Linghard's Geschichte von England, 11. bis 14. Bd., Frankf. 1830–33; besorgte Byron's Works, 1826, 2. A. 1829; Walter Scott's Poetical Works, 1826, u. The british poets of the 19. century, 1828; er schr.: Kern osmanischer Reichsgeschichte, Lpz. 1837 (Auszug aus Hammer).
