Bishop, Henry, geb. um 1785, war von 1809–24 Musikdirector des Coventgarden Theaters zu London, einer der fruchtbarsten Componisten u. als solcher seiner Zeit sehr gefeiert. Erschrieb eine Menge kleiner Opern, bewies aber wenig Originalität, indem er italienische u. deutsche Melodien benutzte. Seine Compositionen für Chorgesang erhielten sich länger in der Gunst des Publikums. Er st. 1855 in London.
