Bolts

Bolts, Wilhelm, geb. um 1740 in Holland, trat in die Dienste der Ostindischen Compagnie u. wurde in Calcutta Alderman. Durch den Gouverneur von Bengalen des Verbrechens, Indien der Herrschaft Englands entziehen zu wollen, angeklagt, wurde er nach England abgeführt, wo er 7 Jahre im Gefängnisse blieb u. zu seiner Rechtfertigung Considerations of Indian affairs schrieb. Später trat er in die Dienste der Kaiserin Maria Theresia, die ihn zum Obersten ernannte, ging nach deren Tode nach Paris u. st. das. 1808.
