Bradford (spr. Bräddford), William, ein Quäker, kam mit William Penn nach NAmerika, errichtete in New-York 1693 die erste Buchdruckerpresse, nachdem bereits seit 1673 eine in Boston u. seit 1674 eine in Philadelphia bestanden, u. wurde zum Regierungsbuchdrucker ernannt. 1725 gab er die erste in dieser Colonie gedruckte Zeitung unter dem Titel The New-York Gazette heraus u. starb in New-York am 22. Mai 1752.
