Cantĭi

Cantĭi (a. Geogr.), Volk im südöstlichen Theile von Britannien, in Cantĭum (dem jetzigen Kent), mit dem Vorgebirge Cantĭum, zwischen der Mündung der Temesa u. dem Hafen Rutupä (jetzt Cap Ramsgate). Die C. waren das gebildetste Volk unter den Britanniern u. wurde den Römern zuerst bekannt. Außer ihrer Hauptstadt Londinium waren noch die Städte Durovernum, Rutupä, Dubrä, Durobrivä, Bagniacä, Lemanus Portus.
