Cassay (Manipoor), sonst Provinz des hinterindischen Reichs Birma, seit 1774 davon unabhängig; seit 1826 abhängig von den Briten, doch unter eigenem Radscha; grenzt im N. an Assam, im O. u. S. an Birma, im W. an die Provinz Bengalen; die Einwohner nennen sich selbst Moitay; bei den Bengalen heißen sie Muggalus, bei den Europäern Meckleys od. Cassayer u. sind gute Reiter u. Waffenschmiede.
