Claytonĭa (C. L.), Pflanzengattung, nach John Clayton benannt, aus der Familie der Portulaceae-Calandrinieae, 5. Kl. 1. Ordn. L. Arten: krautartige, niedrige, nordamerikanische u. sibirische Pflanzen, z.B. C. tuberosa, ein von Gesner auf der Prince-Edwardsinsel entdecktes Gewächs, mit kleinen kartoffelartigen Knollen, deren Schale rostbraun u. das Innere weiß, von reichem Gehalt an Stärkemehl ist. Die Knollen werden von den Indianern gern gegessen.
