Colissēum, 1) prächtiges Gebäude für öffentliche Spiele in Rom, von Nero errichtet, s. u. Amphitheater; 2) Prachtgebäude, zu allerhand Darstellungen u. zu öffentlichen Vergnügungen errichtet, so das C. zu Parisin den Champs Elysées. das von 1770–80 dauerte, wo man Wasserkämpfe, Hahnenkämpfe, Feuerwerke gab u. mehrere Kaffeehäuser bestanden, das aber aus Mangel an Theilnahme wieder einging u. jetzt nur noch im Namen Rue de C. besteht.
