Duodĕcim

Duodĕcim (lat.), zwölf. Daher Duodecimāl, was sich auf die Zahl 12 bezieht, bes. mit 12 getheilt werden kann. Daher Duodecimalmaß, Eintheilung der Einheit in 12 gleiche Theile. Hiernach enthält im Längenmaß die Ruthe 12 Fuß, der Fuß 12 Zoll, der Zoll 12 Linien, die Quadratruthe aber 144 QM. etc., die Cubikruthe 1728 Cubikfuß etc. Vgl. Decimalmaß. Die Rechnung darnach Duodecimalrechnung, nur dadurch von der Dodekadik verschieden, daß die Menge der Haupteinheiten dekadisch ausgedrückt wird, u. daß die kleineren Einheiten bei Flächenrechnungen die Progression, 1/144 1, 1/144 2, [407] 1/144 3 etc., bei Cubikrechnungen die Progression, 1/1728 1 1/1728 2 1/1728 3 etc. bilden.
