Galland (spr. Gallang), Antoine, geb. 1646 in Rollot in der Picardie; reiste in Colberts Auftrag nach dem Orient, um dort alte Denkmäler u. Inschriften zu untersuchen, u. st. 1715 als Professor der Arabischen Sprache am königlichen Collegium in Paris; er schr. u.a.: Mille et une nuit, Par. 1704–08, 12 Bde. u.a. (deutsch von I. H. Voß, Bremen 1781–85, 6 Bde.; s. Tausend u. eine Nacht); Traité de l'origine et des progrès du café, Caen 1699; Relation de la mort du Sultan Osman etc., Paris 1678; Les paroles remarquables etc. tirées des ouvrages des Orientaux, Lyon 1695.
