Githāgo

Githāgo (G. Desf.), Gattung aus der Familie der Caryophylleae-Lychnideae, so v.w. Agrostemma (s.d.). Daher Githagīn, ein giftiger Stoff aus dem Samen der Kornrade, der im getrockneten Zustande wie Stärke aussieht, sich leicht in Wasser u. verdünntem Weingeist löst, nicht auf Pflanzenfarben reagirt u. mit Säuren keine bestimmte chemische Verbindung einzugehen scheint. Durch concentrirte Schwefelsäure wird das G. roth gefärbt. Das G. ist von Scharling dargestellt, aber weder analysirt, noch ermittelt worden, in welcher Beziehung es zum Agrostemmin steht; es scheint mit dem Saponin identisch zu sein.
