Diognētus

Diognētus, Stoiker, Lehrer des Kaisers Marc Aurel. Unter den patristischen Schriften kommt eine Ηπιστολὴ πρὸς Διόγνητον, wahrscheinlich einen andern, vor, welche einen Abriß der christlichen Sitte u. Lehre enthält u. diese dem heidnischen Götter- u. dem jüdischen Gottesdienst gegenüber als die allein vernünftige u. wahre darstellt. Der Brief wurde früher gewöhnlich dem Justinus Martyr beigelegt, jetzt aber demselben fast einstimmig abgesprochen, doch ist er von einem Zeitgenossen, u. zwar wahrscheinlich von einem Heidenchristen verfaßt, herausgegeben zuerst von H. Stephanus 1592, von Hefele in den Patrum apostolicorum opera; zuletzt von Krenkel, Lpz. 1860; vgl.
