Pas (fr., spr. Pah), 1) Bewegung mit den Füßen, wie sie bei den verschiedenen Tänzen vorkommen. Man unterscheidet: P. droits (spr. P. droa), gerade P., P. ouverts (spr. Paks uwähr), geöffnete P., P. ronds (spr. P. rong), runde P., P. tortilles (spr. P. tortill'j'), gekrümmte P., P. battus (spr. P. battüh), geschlagene P.; in anderer Hinsicht unterscheidet man: P. pliés (spr. P. pliëh), gebogene P., P. élévés (spr. Paks ehleweh), erhabene P., P glissés (spr. P. glissch), streichende P. etc. Aus diesen einfachen P. werden die zusammengesetzten P. od. P. im engeren Sinne gebildet, welche mit der Taktart der Tanzmusik übereinstimmen müssen; 2) ganze Tänze, welche keine Soli sind, sondern durch zwei, drei u. mehre Tänzer zugleich ausgeführt u. nach der Zahl derselben P. de deux (spr. P. d' döh), P. de trois (spr. P. d' troa) etc. genannt werden.
