Plumridge

Plumridge (spr. Plömmridsche), geb. 1786, trat 1799 in britische Seedienste, wurde 1806 Lieutenant u. diente zumeist auf der Flotte im Mittelmeere, wo er die Schlacht bei Trafalgar mitmachte, u. war abwechselnd auch in Westindien u. am Cap stationirt; 1809 befehligte er in den dänischen Gewässern, nahm 1810 an der Eroberung von Isle de France Theil, wohnte 1814 als Adjutant Sir Edward Pellews der Einnahme von Genua bei, rückte zum Commandeur auf u. wurde 1822 zum Postcapitán ernannt, als welcher er Verwendung in verschiedenen Stellen erhielt; 1831 war er mit in Ostindien; 1841 kam er für Falmouth ins Unterhaus, wurde 1847 als der Zweite im Commando abermals nach Ostindien gesendet, erlangte 1852 den Grad eines Contreadmirals, befehligte 1854 unter Napier die dritte Division der Ostseeflotte u. zeichnete sich durch die Streifzüge im Bottnischen Meerbusen u. an der Finnischen Küste u. bei der Einnahme von Bomarsund aus.
