Prosthĕsis (gr.), 1) das Hinzufügen eines Buchstabens zu Anfange eines Wortes, z.B. gnatus st. natus; 2) der Theil der Chirurgie, der etwas Fehlendes wieder ersetzt, die künstliche Ansetzung eines Gliedes.
