Melastŏma (M. L.); Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Melastomaceae-Osbeckicae, 10. Kl. 1. Ordn. L.; Arten: zahlreich, obgleich viele neuerdings ausgeschieden u. in neue Gattungen zusammengestellt sind. Mehre, wie: M. grassularioides, M. acinodendron, M. malabathricum, M. asperum, M. moluccanum, M. polyanthum tragen eßbare, wohlschmeckende, aber den Mund anhaltend schwarz färbende Beeren; andere, wie M. lutescens (Conostegia lut.), sind in der Färberei anwendbar.
