Smilacin

Smilacin (Sassaparillin, Pariglin), C42H34O14, ein krystallisirbarer Bestandtheil der Sassaparillwurzel; man erhält es, indem man die alkoholische Abkochung der Wurzel mit essigsaurem Bleioxyd fällt u. mit Thierkohle digerirt; die durch Schwefelwasserstoff von Blei befreite Flüssigkeit gibt beim Verdunsten Krystalle von S.; es schmeckt kratzend u. bitter; nach Gmelin ist S. ein Glykosid.
