Syrianus, 1) s. Rufinus 5); 2) neuplatonischer Philosoph aus Alexandra im 5. Jahrh. n. Chr., Schüler des Plutarchos von Athen, lehrte nach demselben zu Athen die Platonisch-Iamblichische Philosophie mit Beifall u. st. 450. Er schr. über die Orphische Theologie, über die Übereinstimmung des Orpheus, Pythagoras u. Platon (sämmtlich verloren); von seinem Commentar zur Metaphysik des Aristoteles ist blos ein Theil gedruckt aus der lateinischen Übersetzung des H. Bagolin, Venedig 1558; Commentar über Hermogenes περὶ ἰδεῶν, herausgeg. in Spengels Συναγωγὴ τεχνῶν u. mit Hermogenes von Walz u. περὶ στάσεων in der Aldinischen Ausgabe der griechischen Redner 1508 (1589), u. im 4. Bd. von Walz' Rhetores graeci.
