Taxĭla, Hauptstadt im District Varsa in Indien, lag in einer fruchtbaren Gegend nicht weit vom Indus u. war die Residenz des Königs, welchen die Griechen nach der Stadt Taxĭles nannten u. welcher sich Alexander dem Großen ergab u. mit demselben gegen Poros zog. Die Stadt lag wohl zwischen dem jetzigen Attock u. Rawil Pindi, aber es sind von ihr jetzt keine Spuren mehr übrig.
