Mahoba

Mahoba, Stadt in Bundeleund im District Hummerpoor der Nordwestlichen Provinzen des Angloindischen Reichs, an der Straße von Banda nach Saugor; einst eine blühende Stadt, jetzt ein Haufen von Ruinen, zwischen denen einzelne Wohnungen zerstreut sind, welche etwa noch 5000 Ew. bergen. In der Nähe drei große Bassins, jedes 1–11/2 (Stunde im Umkreis u. durch Abdämmung von Thälern gebildet); ihr Ursprung wird in der Localsage dem Radschputenfürsten Parmal-Deo zugeschrieben, welcher um 1083 n. Chr. in M. regierte.
