Valvāta (V. Müll.), Schneckengattung der Süßwasser-Kammkiemer, mit dünnem, gedeckeltem, weit genabeltem, kreisel- od. scheibenförmigem Gehäuse, die Windungen fast in einer Ebene, Mündung rund; Arten: V. piscinalis s. obtusa, kugelig-kreiselförmig, weißlich, 4 stark gewölbte Windungen, die letzte bauchig, die übrigen schnell abnehmend, eine stumpfe Spitze bildend; V. depressa, kugeliger mit nur 31/2 sich wenig erhebenden Windungen, erstere 31/2 Linien hoch u. 21/2 Linien dick, erstere 11/2 Linien hoch u. 2 Linien dick, Ferner: V. spirorbis, V. cristata, V. minuta, V. multiformis u.a., mehre auch fossil vorkommend.
