Wadström

Wadström, Karl Bernhard, geb. 1764 in Stockholm; Ingenieur in schwedischen Diensten, verließ diese u. bereiste 1786–88 das Innere von Afrika u. st. 1799 in Paris. Nach seinen Vorschlägen wurden die ersten freien Negercolonien auf Sierra Leone u. Bulama begründet. Er schr.: Reise nach Afrika, Lond. 1789; Essay on colonisation particularly applied to the Western Coast of Africa, Lond, 1794–95, 2 Bde. (deutsch von E. A. W. Zimmermann, Lpz. 1796).
