Wanäs, Stadt im schwedischen Län Skaraborg (Westgothland), an der Mündung des Götakanal S in den Wettersee, wurde vom König Karl XIV. Johann unter dem Namen Karlsborg zu einer sehr starken Festung für 20,000 Mann umgewandelt, um dort bei einem unglücklichen Kriege einen Zufluchtsort für die Centralbehörden u. einen Sammelpunkt für das Heer zu haben. 1854 wurden hier noch mehre neue Fortificationen angelegt.
