Fagus canadensis Willd., wird in Virginien gegen böse Geschwüre u. selbst gegen Krebs angewendet u. ist ein Bestandtheil des berühmt gewordenen Mittels des Dr. Martin gegen den Krebs. Die frische Pflanze wird innerlich gegen Ruhr gegeben.
