Bateman, englischer Ethnolog u. Alterthumsforscher, geb. 1821, starb 1861 auf seinem Landhaus Lombardale. House in Derbyshire, wo er ein werthvolles Museum besaß; er schr.: Vestiges of the antiquities of Derbyshire; Ten years' diggings in the Celtic and Anglosaxon grave mounds.
