Santălum (S. L.), Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Santalaceae, 4. Kl. 1. Ordn. L.; Arten : S. album L., Baum mit kleinen, gelbrothen Blumen, in Ostindien, auf Timor u. den Kleinen Sundainseln, Mutterpflanze des weißen u. gelben Sandelholzes; S. myrtifolium L., der vorigen ähnlich, in Coandelrom u. Java; S. frey cinetianum Gaudich, Baum mit lancettförmigen, stumpfen Blättern, größern, dunkelrothen, traubenständigen Blüthen, auf den Sandwichsinseln ganze Wälder bildend, gibt auch wohlriechendes, jung weißes, später gelbes, zuletzt rothes Sandelholz, welches jetzt häufig nach Ostindien u. China ausgeführt wird; S. plumeria, in Ostindien, gibt das eigentliche gelbe Sandelholz.
