Menobranchus

Menobranchus, Amphibie, Gattung aus der Familie der Salamander, Füße vierzehig, im Oberkiefer mit zwei Zahnreihen; Art: M. (Triton) lateralis, in den nordamerikanischen Seen, wird 2–3 Fuß lang, ist dick u. plump, dunkelbraun, noch dunkler gefleckt, eine Längsfurche auf dem Rücken, ein schwarzer Streif von den Nasenlöchern durch die Augen, längs den Seiten bis zum Schwanze.
