Tamus (T. L.), Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Dioscoreae, Hexandrie L.; Arten: T. communis, Schlingpflanze, in Südeuropa u. England. Die knollige, außen schwarze, innen weiße, scharfe Wurzel (Radix tami, Rad. bryoniae nigrae), war sonst als reizendes, abführendes Mittel officinell; die jungen Sprossen werden in England u. im Orient häufig wie die Hopfenkeime gekocht genossen.
