Modiŏla 1) M. Mch., Pflanzengattung aus der Familie der Malvaceen; Arten in Südamerika u. in Carolina; 2) (Modiolus Lam.), Gattung der Miesmuscheln, auch als Untergattung von Mytilus betrachtet; der abgerundete, etwas vorspringende Wirbel liegt nicht am Ende; Art: Gemeine Modiole (M. Tulipa L, Mytilus modiola L.), länglich dünn, weißlich od. gelblich, purpurn od. bläulich gestreift; aus Amerika.
