Woodhouse (spr. Wudhaus), James, geb. 1770 in Nordamerika; studirte auf der Universität von Pennsylvanien Chemie, wurde nach mehren Reisen Professor an derselben u. st. 1809. Er schrieb Mehres über Chemie u. fand das Kohlenoxydulgas zuerst auf.
