Affection

Affection (v. lat. Affectio), 1) jeder Eindruck auf den Organismus, innerlich od. äußerlich; Reizung, s. Krankheit; 2) so v.w. Krankheit, daher z.B. Magenaffection od. gichtische Affection etc.; 3) Gewogenheit, Gunst; in A. nehmen, lieb gewinnen; daher Affectionspreis (Affectionswerth), der Werth, welchen eine Sache nicht absolut, sondern für Jemand aus besonderen Gründen hat, z.B. weil es ein Geschenk, Erbstück u. dgl. ist; s. u. Werth. Davon affectionirt, gewogen, geneigt; 4) überhaupt wesentliche Eigenschaft, z.B. A. gratiae, der Gnade, A. providentiae, der Vorsehung.
