Arausĭo

Arausĭo (a. Geogr.), Stadt der Cavares im Narbonensischen Gallien; j. Orange, mit Ruinen eines Amphitheaters, Circus, bes. eines Triumphbogens zu Ehren des Marius. In der Nähe von A. schlugen 105 v. Chr. Manlius u. Cäpio die Cimbern u. Teutonen. Hier 2 Kirchenversammlungen (Arausiăca concilĭa) in den Jahren 441 u. 539, letztere gegen die Semipelagianischen Meinungen des Faustus.
