Natīv (v. lat.), angeboren, natürlich; daher Nativismus, Natürlichkeit, Denk- u. Handlungsweise eines Menschen od. Volkes, welches durch keine Erziehung od. Bildung geändert ist. Natives, 1) die inden Vereinigten Staaten von Nordamerika selbst Geborenen, im Gegensatz zu den Eingewanderten; 2) (Native American Party), Partei der Eingebornen daselbst, nahmen für sich, den Adoptivbürgern gegenüber, Vorrechte der Geburt in Anspruch u. betrieben bes. die Erlangung des Bürgerrechts der Eingewanderten erst nach deren 21 jährigem Aufenthalte; aus ihr gingen die Knownothings (s.d.) hervor.
