Cave (spr. Kehw), 1) William, geb. 1637 zu Picwel in der Grafschaft Leicester u. gest. 1713 als Canonicus in Windsor; er schr.: Primitive Christianity, Lond. 1673 u.ö. (französisch Amst. 1702, 2 Bde.); Hist. litteraria scriptorum ecclesiasticorum, Lond. 1688, 2 Bde., Fol., Genf 1705, fortgesetzt von Wharton, Oxf. 1740 u. 43, Fol.; Antiquitates apostolicae, englisch, Lond. 1676, Fol., 5. A. 1684; Apostolici or the hist. of the primitive Fathers, ebd. 1677 u. 82 (deutsch Lpz. 1724); Tabulae ecclesiasticae, Lond. 1674, Hamb. 1676 u. als Cartophylax ecclesiasticus, ebd. 1686 u. m. 2) Edward, geb. 1691 zu Newton in Warwikshire, wurde Buchdrucker, kaufte eine Druckerei in London u. unternahm das Gentlennan's Magazin, welches das Muster aller Magazine wurde; er st. 1754.
