Nikolaistad, der neuere Namen für die 1852 abgebrannte u. dann wieder aufgebaute Stadt Wasa (s.d.), die Hauptstadt des russischen Gouvernements Wasa in Finnland, liegt am Bottnischen Meerbusen; hat einen Hafen, Schiffswerfte, Handel mit Waldproducten u. 2800 Ew.
