Coruncanius

Coruncanius (Coruncanus), 1) Tiberius, aus plebejischem Stand, war 280 v. Chr. Consul u. stritt gegen die Etrusker u. Pyrrhus u. wurde darauf der erste plebejische Pontifex maximus. Er war ein frommer Mann u. besaß große juristische Kenntnisse; vgl. A. Würffel, De T. Coruncanio, Halle 1740; 2) Cajus u. Lucius, zwei Brüder, wurden als Gesandte zur Königin Teuta in Illyrien gesendet, um dieselbe zu vermögen, ihre Unterthanen von den Seeräubereien abzuhalten. Nachdem sie wieder abgereist waren, wurden sie auf Befehl der Königin zurückgeholt u. der Wortführer, wegen seiner Freimüthigkeit, getödtet.
