Gambart (spr. Gangbahr), Jean Felix Adolf, geb. 1800 in Cette in Frankreich, wurde 1824 Director der Sternwarte in Marseille u. starb um 1836. Er entdeckte mehrere Kometen: den 12. Mai 1822 im Fuhrmann, den 13. Juli 1822 beim Stern ζ Drache, den 20. Mai 1825 in der Cassiopeia, den 27. Febr. 1826 den Bielaschen, am 15. Aug. 1826 im Eridanus, den 15. Sept. abermals im Eridanus, den 28. Oct. 1828 den Enckeschen, am 21. April 1830 im Füllen, am 19. Juli 1832 im Hercules u. am 8. März 1834 in der Wage. G. berechnete auch die Bahnen mehreredieser Kometen u. wies zuerst nach, daß der Bielasche Komet schon 1772 u. 1805 sich gezeigt habe.
