Hoadly

Hoadly (spr. Hohdli), Benjamin, geb. 1676 zu Weseram in Kent, wurde nach Verwaltung mehrerer geistlicher Ämter, 1715 Bischof von Bangor, 1721 von Hereford, 1723 von Salisbury, 1734 von [418] Winchester u. st. 1761 zu Chelsea. Er stellte sich in dem Convocationsstreit auf die Seite der äußersten Latitudinarier u. rief 1717 den Bangorstreit hervor, welcher mit der Auflösung der Convocation endigte.
