Laity (spr. Läty), Armand François, geb. 1812 in Lorient, Pontonnierlieutenant in Strasburg, betheiligte sich an dem Attentate Ludwig Napoleons am 30. Oct. 1836 in Strasburg; von den Assisen des Niederrheins deshalb freigesprochen, wurde er 1838 vom Pairshose wegen seiner Broschüre: Relation hist. des événements du 30. Octobre, Par. 1838, zu fünf Jahren Gefangenschaft verurtheilt. Nach der Wahl Ludwig Napoleons zum Präsidenten der Republik 1848 nahm L., welcher sich kurz vorher mit einer Verwandten des Präsidenten, Frau v, Querelles geb. Beauharnais, verheirathet hatte, seinen Offiziersrang in der Armee wieder ein, wurde 1849 Capitän der Infanterie, Ordonnanzoffizier des Präsidenten, 1850 Escadronschef u. 1851 Personatdirector der Artillerieabtheilung im Kriegsministerium.
