Lindsey, Theophilus, geb. 1723 zu Middlewich in Chesshire, studirte in Cambridge, wurde Caplan beim Herzog von Somerset u. bereiste mit dessen Sohn 1754–56 den Continent, wurde dann Pfarrer in Kirkby-Wiek, Piddelton, Catterick; zu der Überzeugung gelangt, daß die Kirchenlehre über die Trinität mit der Bibel streite, gab er mit Jebb, Wyvill u. Lew 1771 eine Petition beim Parlament ein, daß die Geistlichen auf die Bibellehre statt auf die 39 Artikel verpflichtet würden, u. da dies abgeschlagen wurde, trat er 1773 aus der Kirche, stiftete 1774 eine Unitarische Gemeinde in London u. st. im November 1808.
