Marianne

Marianne, geheime Gesellschaft in Frankreich mit socialdemokratischen Tendenzen, welche 1850 gegründet wurde, namentlich zwischen Nantes u. Tours ihren Sitz hatte, sich von da aus über den größten Theil von Frankreich (bes. den Westen) verbreitete u. im Aug. u. Sept. 1855 in Angers u. der Umgegend einen Aufstand hervorrief, welcher nur durch Waffengewalt unterdrückt werden konnte; die Haupttheilnehmer wurden zu Freiheitsstrafen verurtheilt. Die M. ist seitdem nicht mehr mit Thaten hervorgetreten, besteht aber ohne Zweifel im Geheimen noch fort.
