Polychrest

Polychrest (v. gr.), ein Stoff od. ein Werkzeug, welches zu vielen Dingen brauchbar ist; daher bei den Chemikern Polychrestosen. Polychrestmittel, zusammengesetzte Mittel, denen man eine vielseitige Heilwirkung zuschrieb, bes. Polychrestpillen (Pilulae polychrestae), aus Aloë-, Wermuth-, Tausendgüldenkraut-, Schwarznieswurzelextract, Myrrhe, Mastix, Benzoë, venetianischem Terpentin zusammengesetzte Pillen; Volksmittel gegen Stockungen in den Unterleibseingeweiden, Amenorrhöe, Weißen Fluß. Polpchrestsalz (Sal polychrestum), schwefelsaures Kali, s. Schwefelsaure Salze.
