Salicyl

Salicyl (Spiroyl, Spiril, Salicoyl), ein hypothetisches, organisches, sauerstoffhaltiges Radical, welches im Salicin, dem Spiräaöl (salicylige Säure) u. Gaultheriaöl (salicylsaures Methyloxyd) vorkommt u. eine Reihe interessanter Verbindungen u. Abkömmlinge liefert. Nimmt man die Formel des S-s zu C14H5O4, so ist das Spiräaöl Salicylwasserstoff = C14H5O4 + H; nach der neueren Anschauungsweise gibt man dem S. die Formel: C14H7O2 (Salicoyl), das Spiräaöl ist dann Salicoylaldehyd u. das Saligenin der Salicoylalkohol.
