Sihon (Sichon), König der Amoriter, beherrschte das Land vom Arnon bis zum Jabbok u. residirte zu Hesbon. Als die Israeliten bei ihrem Einzug nach Kanaan dahin kamen, baten sie ihn durch sein Land ziehen zu dürfen. S. schlug es ab u. ging ihnen mit einem Heere bis Jahaz (Jahza) entgegen, wurde aber besiegt u. getödtet, u. sein Land erhielten die Stämme Ruben u. Gad zugetheilt.
