Skenninge, Stadt im schwedischen Län Ostgothland, am Flüßchen Skena war ehemals sehr ansehnlich, ist aber jetzt klein u. hat nur 1500 Ew., welche meist Landwirthschaft treiben. Hier einer der besuchtesten Jahrmärkte Schwedens. Im Jahr 1248 ließ Papst Innocenz IV. hier eine allgemeine Kirchenversammlung abhalten, welche der römischen Priesterschaft in Schweden den Cölibat auferlegte.
