Sochaczēw (Sochatschem) Stadt im Kreise Lowicz u. Gouvernement Warschau des russischen Königreichs Polen, an der Bzura; mit den Ruinen eines alten Schlosses, 2 Kirchen, Synagoge, Gewerbe, Kramhandel, Jahrmärkte; 3900 Ew., worunter 1/3 Juden. Ehemals war S. die Hauptstadt des Landes gleiches Namens, der Sitz eines kleinen Castellans, eines Starosten u. des Landgerichts des Districts, In der Nähe das fürstlich Radziwil'sche Schloß Nieborow, mit Gemäldegallerie, Bibliothek u. der größten Orangerie in Polen, sowie das gleichfalls Radziwil'sche Schloß Arkadia mit Parkanlagen.
