Teutŏnes

Teutŏnes (Teutŏni), deutsche Völkerschaft an[429] der Ostsee, neben den Cimbern; nach Ein. nordöstlich an der Bernsteinküste, nach And. in der Cimbrischen Halbinsel. Tacitus macht sie nebst den Cimbern u. Chauken zu Repräsentanten des Ingävonischen Hauptstammes der Germanen. Sie betheiligten sich unter ihrem Häuptling Teutoboch od. Teutobod an den Zügen der Cimbern durch Deutschland u. nach Gallien, wo sie bei Aquae Sextiae von Marius geschlagen u. Teutoboch gefangen wurde, s.u. Cimbern. Wahrscheinlich ein Zweig der T. waren die Teutonoari, welche weiter nach der Elbe zu saßen.
